For over 30 years the Society has been running the Keep Berwickshire Tidy Award. The aim of the award is to encourage local communities to take pride in their local environment and protect and enhance their communities. The winner of the 2015 award was St Abbs Community Council.
In 2007 the Berwickshire Civic Society Award was launched. The award was launched to recognise architectural developments that preserve, enhance or restore aspects of our local heritage. Unlike other awards, entries are selected by local people. Judging criteria includes both the quality of design and use of local materials. The winner of the 2015 award was Birgham Haugh. In 2014 the award was made to the Coldingham Luckenbooth.
The Berwickshire Civic Society’s Streetscape project is one of its most ambitious and aims to identify and record architectural and heritage features along the hundreds of miles throughout the old County of Berwickshire. Over the next few years we hope to cover every mile, along both rural roads and the routes through our towns and villages, identifying and recording our roadside heritage.
