Flying the flag at Berwickshire High School

The new county flag for Berwickshire was raised today at Berwickshire High School in Duns by Lord-Lieutenant of Berwickshire, Jeanna Swan. Our Chairman, Adrian Smith welcomed everyone to the ceremony. The Society’s William Ramsay and Philip Tibbetts, March Pursuivant Extraordinary, gave a brief history of Berwickshire and the new flag. New Berwickshire flag to be officially raised for the first time

The new county flag for Berwickshire will be officially raised for the first time on Friday 26 April. Lord-Lieutenant of Berwickshire, Jeanna Swan, will perform the honours in a community event organised by Berwickshire Civic Society – organisers of the competition to design the flag – and Berwickshire High School. Shortlisted flag design created by 9-year-old Jack!

A design by a Duns Primary School pupil was among the five shortlisted entries in the recent Flag for Berwickshire competition. Organised by Berwickshire Civic Society, the competition invited designs for a new, official county flag. The creator of one of the shortlisted entries was Jack Dixon, who lives in Ellemford. January 2024 Committee Meeting

Annual General Meeting 2023

We held our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 15 November. As part of the normal rotation of office-bearers, Brian Payne stood down as Chair, and Joy Dobie stood down as Secretary. Adrian Smith has taken on the position of Chair and Jill McColl is now the Secretary, sharing the workload with Kathleen Travers. This is the new county flag for Berwickshire, following our competition to design the flag. We had nearly 1,000 votes and this one received more than half of all of the votes!
