The new county flag for Berwickshire was raised today at Berwickshire High School in Duns by Lord-Lieutenant of Berwickshire, Jeanna Swan. Our Chairman, Adrian Smith welcomed everyone to the ceremony. The Society’s William Ramsay and Philip Tibbetts, March Pursuivant Extraordinary, gave a brief history of Berwickshire and the new flag. The new county flag for Berwickshire will be officially raised for the first time on Friday 26 April. Lord-Lieutenant of Berwickshire, Jeanna Swan, will perform the honours in a community event organised by Berwickshire Civic Society – organisers of the competition to design the flag – and Berwickshire High School. A design by a Duns Primary School pupil was among the five shortlisted entries in the recent Flag for Berwickshire competition. Organised by Berwickshire Civic Society, the competition invited designs for a new, official county flag. The creator of one of the shortlisted entries was Jack Dixon, who lives in Ellemford.
